How Does It Work?
IPL stands for intense pulsed light and draws on advanced technology and clinically-proven techniques to firm and tighten the skin, stimulate new skin growth and reduce redness. The wavelengths from the light cause pigmented areas in the skin to break down into smaller particles, triggering the body’s natural healing process and forming new cells. Your skin will become tighter, clearer, brighter and smoother from the very first session.
How Long Does It Take?
Everyone is different, so there is no one answer to this question. On average, most appointments last 30 minutes. However, all patients must attend a free consultation and patch test prior to any IPL treatment being carried out by our experienced practitioners. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and also allows us to explain in detail how the treatment works and to determine whether it is right for you. A small patch test will also be given during the consultation to check whether you have any adverse reactions to the IPL (although this is very rare).
What Aftercare Is Needed?
After the IPL treatment has been completed, you may notice a little redness on the treated area. This is perfectly normal, and will subside after a few hours. We recommend the following aftercare for best results:
- Use Aloe Vera to keep the skin cool after treatment. Keeping your Aloe Vera in the fridge helps to really feel the benefit.
- Do not expose your skin to the sun straight away. If you really have to be outside, apply a high-factor sunscreen.
- Avoid perfumed skin products on the affected areas for at least 24 hours (although mineral makeup may be used over the area if desired)
